A close reading of VCA’s visual heritage — tracing motifs, shapes, proportions, and recurring themes across the brand’s history. The study identified two distinct logics: one rooted in Art Deco geometry, structured and linear; the other organic and poetic, with rounded flowing forms derived from the natural world. From this, we developed a system of patterns, elements, and spatial modules for VCA boutiques: each element a metamorphosis: natural form becoming geometry, geometry becoming space.
The past doesn’t disappear, but each generation reads it differently.

Lines: parallel — centered — arched
Triangles: straight — curved
Progression: stem — spine — branch
Arrangements: layers — centered — scaled
Art Deco: palm leaf — arch
Paillette: circles — groups
Natural shapes: floral — bouquet
Intersections: knots — ties

Van Cleef & Arpels already means too much to too many people for self-expression to be the starting point. The first task is translation. Visual Codes is how we find the way forward — by making the brand’s underlying geometry explicit and building it into the system.
